World Monitor collects public reports from open-source channels and news data, places them on a map, and shows how many independent channels report each one. It is automated, and this page says where its limits are.

Method

How to read it

The point of the numbers on each signal is that you can judge the confidence yourself.

Confidence is shown, not claimed

Each signal carries the number of channels that reported it. One channel is a lead. Three or more independent channels is what the app labels confirmed.

Intensity is an estimate

A 1–5 scale set by a language model from the content of the reports. It is not an official assessment and it can be wrong.

Location has a precision

A point is exact, a city, or national. National means the place could not be determined and the marker sits at the centre of the country.

Automated, with a second pass

There is no editorial desk. Reports and naval events go through an automated review that can discard or correct them. Errors still get through.
